Sunday Showcase: Ian Allen
Brrrrrrrrrrrr it’s cold out!!! How bout that chilly weather, huh?*
Welcome to a new too much chocolate feature called Sunday Showcase, which will show a collection of work from one photographer- from a startup to an established shooter- each Sunday. Ideally, it will be a nice place to visit, with coffee in hand on Sunday mornings, possibly as you nurse a hangover.
I met this guy Ian Allen at a house party in Brooklyn on Friday night. I know his girlfriend, Claudia, through a friend. Claudia tells me her boyfriend is a photographer. Oh, that’s cool, I say. We later end up checking out Ian’s site and it blows my f-ing socks off. To be honest, I was kind of expecting a flickr site. Instead, I was totally stunned. His work is incredibly diverse but incredibly consistent. Architecture, portraiture, travel, environments, even product. Plus he’s prolific, Claudia told me he shot the b/w fashion work below last week. A magazine/agency’s dream. Someone get this guy a rep. Cheers to you, Ian, great running into you. Here’s to chance meetings.

These are all by the same guy? Love the diversity of subject matter and styles. Good stuff, thanks for sharing it.
Great to see a photographer absolutely nailing a range of different styles. Very inspirational.
[...] I hate to mention the weather, but it has been nothing less than a phenomenal autumn with trees afire and brisk temperatures here in our nation’s capital. I like to take abby and ted on a powerwalk to to the Washington Cathedral some mornings and all portended glorious-ity. I don’t ALWAYS walk around with a camera but I needed to make some stock shots of the cathedral so I grabbed the 35mmDSLR. Rounding around the side of the cathedral we saw some activity at the end of the driveway. And who knew, YOU can protest outside the cathedral w/o permit just like the guy who is always protesting around the Vatican DCHQ over on Mass Ave. [...]
